Hi there, I’m Bell.

There is no gift like a handmade gift. I began my journey as an artist making various crafts for friends and family.

I think art is the most beautiful gift of all. My grandmother, who won’t admit she’s an artist, gifted me a painting of myself as a child running through a flock of seagulls, and I admire it every day.

And I decided that the purpose of my work is to make others happy. I want my art to make people feel special and cared about.

My illustration style is whimsical, with bright colors, sketchy lines, and silly characters. I believe these are the things that remind people of their childhood, a time when they were likely at their happiest. I also often incorporate vintage elements like grain, textures, and mid-modern typefaces because I am fascinated with the way these elements can transport a person into another era.

My photographs, on the other hand, are dark and moody. I follow few rules of composition or exposure. I like to underexpose my images in post processing to give them drama. I also find myself using a slow shutter speed to capture blur, the opposite of what is typically viewed as a “good image.”

I primarily deal with portraiture, and the expression of the human face. This allows me as both the photographer and the viewer to be reminded of how angry, scared, joyful or sad the subject was at the very 4000th of a second the photograph was taken.

I cannot imagine dedicating myself to anything other than the pursuit of making art accessible to everyone.
